If you have a fish tank, then you probably don’t need to worry about filtering, since fish don’t like having their tails chewed up. However, if you have an established planted aquarium or waterfalls, you will probably want a filter. This can be as simple as a simple carbon filter cartridge, or as complex as a water filtration system using multiple layers of filters.

Another thing to consider is whether you will be using a power wand with your aquarium vacuum cleaner. Power wands allow you to pick up and move small items around your aquarium without having to use the suction of the vacuum cleaner itself. Power wands also typically have more suction power than a simple filter cartridge.

A final thing to consider is how often you plan on using your vacuum cleaner. Some people only want to use it once or twice a month, while others will use it daily. Using a vacuum that only removes dust a few times a month won’t do your aquarium any good if you don’t plan on using it daily.
